Machinable, our sister company specialised in AI and machine learning, is currently hiring for a Social Science Analytics Consultant. They are looking for talented individuals who are interested in solving real-world challenges with complex data sets and advanced-analytics tools.

About machinable

machinable is a specialist consultancy that delivers practical machine learning solutions. We are distinctive both in our ability to bring the potential of advanced data science to the senior management, and in our ability to deliver working solutions in organisations which historically may have had little analytical infrastructure or input.

We work across industries, and our work ranges from enhancing core predictive marketing models to automation using natural language solutions. Example client engagements include developing a mobile workforce optimisation solution for a B2B service provider, defining the AI strategy for a leading financial services organisation, and developing a profit optimisation model for the portfolio company of a private equity firm.

Our Social Science practice helps senior executives in the social sector address and resolve some of their most pressing issues – whether that be better understanding the needs of their users, measuring and increasing the social impact of their organisations or improving the efficiency of operations by optimising the allocation of their staff to service activities.

We are looking for graduates of quantitative disciplines to join our Social Science team to help develop innovative data science / machine learning solutions in the social sectors (e.g. children and young people, health, care and well-being, education, employment, justice, environment). We offer an opportunity for individuals both to develop practical, leading-edge data analytic solutions, and to engage with colleagues and clients to address real-world social and environmental problems.

Candidates should be able to evidence a track record of good mathematical competency and programming experience. We prize problem-solving ability and intellectual curiosity along with a strong desire to work in the social sectors.

  • High level of intellectual curiosity and empathy for structured problem-solving
  • Energised and enthused both by the opportunity to develop impactful solutions in the social sector, but also to contribute to the shaping and growth of machinable as a firm
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills – an ability to work effectively with and influence peers and clients
